A lot of people who don’t know the ins and outs of feng shui believe mistakenly that there are right and wrong feng shui colors for the office or home. Some people, for example, might think that black and red are powerful colors because they are associate with the Asian culture. Some people might believe that a red front door is “lucky” or that gold is guaranteed to bring prosperity and wealth.

These things are actually wrong. When it comes to the application and usage of feng shui colors, there are some real principles to follow when it comes to choosing colors but there are no hard and set rules that this item has to be blue or that room must be painted orange! To help you to understand this further, here are some useful tips.

Feng Shui Colors Can Create Mood

Even biologists and scientists are in agreement that color affects your mood. If you are surrounded by bright, cheerful colors, you will feel more enthusiastic and upbeat. If you are surrounded instead by warm, dark colors, you will feel relaxed and calm. When you are thinking about using feng shui colors, you need to think about which mood you want to create in each room.

If you want your living room to be a relaxing, peaceful place, for example, the soothing and dark shades of warm brown, cocoa, tan, deep green or terracotta might work well. White and yellow are frenetic and bright colors and probably won’t work so well. If you have a room in which you want to create energy, such as a family room or kitchen, these bright colors would probably work well.

Feng Shui Colors are Balanced

Some people think that if something is good, more is even better. This doesn’t apply to everything and certainly does not apply to feng shui colors. Bright, bold colors might be good for creating enthusiasm and energy but if you go overboard and use too much of these colors in the room, the resulting bombardment of color can make you feel anxious and tense. Warm, dark colors can be relaxing and soothing but too much can make you feel closed in, depressed and even smothered.

Balance and harmony are essential feng shui elements in all its applications and this is definitely the case when choosing feng shui colors for your room. Don’t use all one shade or color family for the whole room but dress down or dress up your colors using accents in differing shades. For example, if you have a warm brown living room, you might like to have artwork, afghans or cushions in bright yellow or white.

Feng Shui Colors Make You Feel Happy and Positive

Whatever you choose as your preferred feng shui colors, you should really look at the color and ask yourself how it makes you feel. If you can’t stand it, it is definitely not for you, no matter what the so-called experts say. Real feng shui colors are supposed to encourage positive energy. Using a color you hate will just do the opposite.

By understanding these truths about real feng shui colors, you can understand more about how to use them in your home or workplace for the best results.
